As 3/5 of an album a 3/5 album can be. Musically great with a lot of talent, but just not my thing. Asylum and Crime of the Century stand above the rest, though, but not enough to carry, sadly. The cover is majestic, tho.

Pre Listen:
I've only ever listened to Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" album before, and I quite liked it. Expecting a similar level of quality music here, so higher expectations than usual.
Notable Tracks:
Bloody Well Right - Favorite track. I love the oomph of the vocals; they do the fun lyrics justice. A Fun song.
Rudy - Another highlight and probably would've been my favorite had it been trimmed a bit. It's just got a few unnecessary parts that don't really do anything other than pad it's runtime.
Post Listen:
Cool album, I enjoyed it. It gave me Pink Floyd vibes, specifically Dark Side of the Moon.
Just like Breakfast in America, this album's lyrics, instrumentation, and overall presentation were quite good. I played this one during a lengthier drive home, and consistently the album interrupted conversations over it, because the songs just had several "woah" moments. I'd like to listen to this one again sometime, and may edit my review, because I think there was more going on under the hood that I didn't get to appreciate through a first-time listen. That said, there was a lot of padding I felt on several songs. It's a shorter album with only 8 tracks, but even then, I think it could've been cleaned up a bit more to perfection.
Very cool, very nice. 4/5

Incredible. Prog has always been my favorite genre, and this is just another incredible album that grows my love for the genre. Great piano, incredible guitar, awesome vocals, the whole package. 4.5/5.

There's a lot to love with this album. I love all the instrumental parts.

Apt title. A true musical crime.
Too many bands in the 70s were stricken with this wannabe-McCartney virus where everything had to sound like the Abbey Road medley. It's bad, aesthetically, and it comes off smarmy to me. It feels like some dudes started a rock band to prove how eclectic their tastes are and that they're actually refined composers who can pull from Tin Pan Alley, jazz, showtunes, classical, etc. Also, it's very funny that the first sentence of their bio on wikipedia is about how they were patronized by a Dutch millionaire -- this album sure sounds like it.
I don't like it and I don't even really respect it. Bad album.

Excellent prog/pop rock. The songs are catchy and the instrumentation is really unique. Got four stars just because I felt the latter songs started to be less innovative.

I can't be the only one that immediately thinks Superman II whenever they see this album cover?
I love 70s stuff and this is so 70s but it is too lumbering and ponderous for me. I don't get its popularity at all. Needs replaced with some Van Der Graaf Generator.
Rated 6/10
Am I being edged? Every time I feel the songs are going to do something big they start going for it and stop, never reaching the climax. I liked some elements of this, but was often left feeling unsatisfied.

The list really popped up a diamond in this vast barren wasteland. I liked it. 4/5.

Pretty damn good. Quite a few of the songs start out just okay but really pick up towards the end.

Now this is one of my favourite albums of all time. It has aged like fine wine, still as amazing today as when I first listened to it as a small boy.
It is impossible for me to not listen to the whole album when I put it on, and when it’s finished you’re always left wishing there was one more song.
Musicianship is off the charts, songwriting is stunning. It’s pretty much perfect.
Finally it’s one of the most amazing sounding records of all time. Find a good UK first pressing on vinyl and prepare to be stunned at the soundstage and dynamics.
Masterpiece. I’d give this more than 5 if I could.

On relisten I liked this a lot better

Classic Supertramp

De supertrump solo había escuchado Breakfast In America que no estaba mal pero tampoco me voló la cabeza. Pero este sí, vaya album generacional. Entiendo que a mi padre le gustaran tanto.
Rated 6/10
An o.k. progish album. I listened to this 5-6 times but rarely left much of an impression, but also wasn't bad. 2.7/5 -> 3/5
Rated 8/10
This is Supertramp at their absolute best, in an album that is dynamic, with interesting melodies and cool instrumentation. I believe that they never went out to make an uber ambitious record and it really is a shame because albums such as this make me feel that they were just a great conceptual idea away from making one of the best albums of all time.

I've never heard a single song by Supertramp before, but I'm pleasantly surprised! At the same time very much a 70s album and quite modern sounding, it makes for a cohesive and lovely listening experience.
Rated 8/10
A smooth as butter listening experience through and through.

Guess Supertramp have always leaned into the synth organs. Other than that, I really don't know how to distinguish this album from all the other prog-rock acts in the 70s. Each tracks flow into the other and uses a lot of piano. Tone and mood are a bit too slow personally (3-3.5).
