I had never heard of this band before. I was pretty well entertained throughout. Fun, new wave style.

Conozco unas canciones que me gusta del grupo que me gustan mucho, así que esperaba que este álbum fuera así. Tristemente solo me gustaron las primeras tres canciones, pero el resto las sentí todas parecidas.

Theres good post punk, and theres bad post punk. This is not only good, but its great. 10/10 would listen again.
And Voodoo Dolly is such a roller coaster
Rated 6/10
pretty good but sounded all the same as siouxsie unfortunately tends to do

Pre Listen:
Another band I've heard nothing of in my life. Cool album cover art, poster worthy. No expectations.
Notable Tracks:
Voodoo Dolly - Least favorite song on the album. Goes on for way too long, is way too repetitive, and becomes just noise after about 2 minutes. Skipped around the 6 minute mark.
Post Listen:
This was like....maybe the most nothing-burger album I've heard on here since the Ramones. The tracks all blended together for me, nothing really shined, hence not 1 favorite track. This project is teaching me that I really dislike punk music. It's just noise man.
The electric guitar is guitaring. The vocalist is vocaling. The drums are drumming. It's rock alright. It's about as interesting as a rock too. If you're into Geology maybe you'd like this album. Boring, 2/5.

Better than I remember. Inventive and bass-heavy, much like the early Cure. Siouxsie is a unique talent, kind of a foundational alternative rock disc, before that was a genre.
Rated 6/10
This album is dark and haunting, aided by the echoey vocals and unique guitar sounds. It sounded ahead of its time, too. It's opportune I listened to it on a cloudy day, it really added to the spooky Halloween feel.

Again, I think another one that is good but just not my own vibe. I would listen to Spellbound.

Every song is a masterclass in different ways to approach post-punk writing. They don't settle into a groove, constantly shifting and surprising with an energetic, erratic performance. Themes of the occult permeate every song, making them a cohesive whole, almost a concept album. The witch-y vibe gives Siouxsie and The Banshees an idiosyncratic, iconic sound.

Comes on strong and never let's up

Good that sounded the same yeah OK well put it. I have one.

Juju is a record that announces its credentials immediately and delivers on them consistently — a fully formed artistic vision executed with real conviction and craft. Siouxsie Sioux’s voice is cold, theatrical, and completely commanding, an instrument that demands attention even when the emotional frequency doesn’t quite match yours. John McGeoch’s guitar work is the other genuine highlight, angular and atmospheric in ways that clearly influenced a generation of alternative players. These are serious musicians doing serious work.
The problem is simple fit. The gothic atmosphere and post-punk darkness are well constructed and never feel gratuitous — this is considerably more melodically and rhythmically alive than the Cure’s Pornography, which landed at a 2 earlier in this project for similar reasons of emotional disconnection. Juju has enough pulse and melodic intelligence to stay clearly above that threshold. It’s just not a world that generates any pull toward return visits.
The record player test failed early and held steady all the way to the closing track. Not because anything went wrong, but because nothing reached through the atmospheric darkness to create genuine personal engagement. Respected, appreciated for what it is, and ultimately not something that belongs in regular rotation.
A solid three that sits exactly where it belongs — nothing bad enough for two, nothing compelling enough for four. Sometimes the most honest review is also the most straightforward one.

Wow, this was great! I had really only heard of them, and recently heard the cover Garbage did of Cities in Dust, so heard the original after that. But ya, for being 1981 this surprised me for sure. Post punk it says, that lines up, and maybe REM was even inspired by some of this jangle rock?

2 days in a row with a female voice and I’m here for it. This time is Siouxsie. Been aware of her and heard her Dear Prudence cover which is great. Never heard a full album, but love this a lot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did but this was really good. Super tight gothicy post punk that slowly gets darker the further you progress into the album. I'd say i enjoyed the second half more than the first but this album is still ultra consistent and pretty much every song here is great.

I listened to this album while I was sewing a creature! I think this album and the people who created it would greatly support that notion. I listened to one of the tracks through my phone speakers and I wasn't that into it. While working on my creature I was wearing headphones and I really liked it. Goes to show you how much phone speakers are BUTT!!! I really liked almost every song in this album it had a really fun vibe to it. I think this is considered goth music and honestly I've never considered myself the BIGGEST fan of it because my claim was that it all kind of sounded alike. This will be anyone's claim towards a style of music they are not drawn to or do not like. It was ill-educated. Now I consider myself a fan of at least parts of gothic music. Yay!

A really great album, the first two songs directly catch your attention, the chord progression and the drumming on Into the Light is really really good.
A very nice discovery.
