TuskFleetwood Mac

Rated 4/10

I'm aware of this album as it has a bit of notoriety to it, but I've never listened to it start-to-finish.

In general, I find Fleetwood Mac a little dull. I prefer the songs where Lindsay Buckingham is belting out his vocals, but that generally doesn't happen too often. And this album is more of that overall dull thing. The songs frequently feel like they're overstaying their welcome and like they're much longer in duration than they are.

I recognize a bunch of these tracks by title, but I've never listened to this album start-to-finish before.

This is a solid Elvis album. I'll be adding this to my list of albums to listen to again.

CutThe Slits

Rated 8/10

I've heard of The Slits, but never listened to them.

I didn't hate this. I think some of the reviews on this site are overly harsh. I enjoyed listening to this from the perspective of "I can see where a bunch of other groups have likely been influenced by The Slits." I was between a 3- or 4-star rating, and the "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" cover made it a 4. I'll be adding this to my list of albums to listen to again.

I am completely unaware of this album and am going into this blind.

I'm quite enjoying this. Looking at the reviews on this site, it seems like I'm in the minority. But now I also want to check out this movie. So, yeah, I'm gonna add this to my list of albums to listen to again.

I think I only recognize one or two tracks on this album by name, but otherwise I've never listened to this album.

As with the other two Pet Shop Boys albums I've listened to as part of this project, I don't hate this, and I am glad I gave it an honest listen. It's not bad, but it's also just not my cup of tea.

TommyThe Who

Rated 4/10

It's been a long time since I've listened to this album start-to-finish. I used to like it quite a lot, but I think I just got tired of it eventually. We'll see what happens to my opinion of it after such a long break.

Unfortunately, I'd forgotten how many of the songs on this album just aren't that good. I understand why I got tired of it. It's a long album, and just not really worth it.

I'm familiar with this album, though I have not listened to it in a long time. Thanks for making me listen to it again.

It's a trip... it's got a FUNKY beat and I can bug out to it!

I don't think I'm recognizing any of these tracks by title, though I can imagine I probably know a few of these. Otherwise, I've never listened to this album start-to-finish.

It's not bad, but I feel like the only thing I can say about this album is that I listened to it. There's not much particularly special going on here.

I'm aware of Sarah Vaughan, but haven't listened to much of her stuff. And this is my first time listening to this album start-to-finish.

I like jazz, but usually don't enjoy vocal jazz. This happens to be excellent vocal jazz though. I'll be adding this to my list of albums to listen to again.

I was completely unaware of this artist and am going in completely blind.

I wish I could have listened to this completely deaf.

But seriously though, I respect this list for including these avant garde selections... I just don't think this is something that one needs to listen to before one dies. And it's another case where the fact that this album isn't readily available to stream is an indicator of exactly how important this album actually is. I don't hate this, but I would not call this good.

DebutBjörk

Rated 6/10

I'm aware of this album, and recognize a few tracks by title. But I've never listened to this album start-to-finish.

I wouldn't call myself a fan of Bjork, but I do respect what she does. I enjoy the non-dance-y songs more than the dance-y ones.

I don't think I'm aware of this artist, and it doesn't look like I recognize any of the tracks by title. So I'm going into this pretty much blind.

This is strange and interesting, but I don't think this is something I'd listen to again. Something about it just isn't grabbing me. There are a few tracks where the drummer is doing some great work, but otherwise, this is overall just meh.

★David Bowie

Rated 8/10

I'm aware of this album, and I think I've heard parts of it, but I don't believe I've listened to the whole thing.

This is an interesting situation I find myself in: I think the other David Bowie albums I've listened to have more individual tracks that I enjoy than this album does, but maybe I enjoyed this album overall more than the others?

fROMOHIOfIREHOSE

Rated 4/10

I don't believe I've ever heard of this artist before, so I'm going in totally blind.

I didn't really enjoy this, though I will say it sounded like it was about 10-15 years ahead of its time. But ultimately this also felt quite forgettable.

I'm aware of Frank Black, and recognize this album cover, but I don't think I recognize any of these tracks by title, and this is my first time listening to this album.

Yeah, this is some really enjoyable 90s garage rock. I think I'll add this to my listen of albums to listen to again.

I haven't listened to this album, and I think I only recognize 1 or 2 tracks by title.

This is interesting and I enjoyed it, but it's maybe just shy of a 5.

I recognize a few of these tracks by name, but otherwise have not listened to this album.

I feel like DJ Muggs is the real unsung hero of this album. The beats are all fantastic.

I don't believe I've ever heard of this artist before, so this is definitely the first time listening to this start-to-finish.

This is pretty great. How have I never heard of these guys before? I'll be adding this to my list of albums to listen to again.
