I was debating between giving this 2 stars or 3. The songs don’t seem that bad, but they all just end up fading into the background and become instantly forgettable. I wouldn’t be mad if I heard this in a grocery store, but at the same time I can really sit for 50+ minutes and intentionally listen to it

This is a pretty good indie electro pop album but I don’t know why it was released included but This is Happening wasn’t. Also people get kind of weird about LCD Soundsystem. Not just on here, I’ve seen it on twitter too. People act like James Murphy killed their dog or something, they hate the band with vitriol and pure spite. Like it’s just beep boops guys, it’s not that serious

The parts that take from Brazilian music are pretty good but all the heavy metal and hoarse scream singing is pretty bad. Too bad that’s the majority of the album

More 80s British new wave. I guess I don’t get sick of this like most of people here do. I enjoyed this quite a bit and checked out Julian Cope’s solo stuff after this and it’s pretty great too

Very deep and engrossing despite seeming like pretty simple music. Tangerine Dream has made some all time great soundtracks for movies but their studio stuff is even more impressive

I was listening to Sun Ra (so actual real jazz) right before I refreshed and got this album. I’ve never listened to much Steely Dan but some people really love them and they seem jazz adjacent, so I thought maybe this could turn out to be a pleasant surprise. No. It’s not good. It’s like smooth jazz mixed with some bad 80s pop. I couldn’t wait for this to end so I could go back to listening to Sun Ra again

I’ve always preferred Dinosaur Jr and only listened to a little of Sebadoh but this ruled. So much crammed into one album. Different styles and moods but it still feels part of the same whole. I’ll be listening to more of their albums now for sure

I’ve tried to give the benefit of the doubt to the other couple Costello albums I’ve gotten so far. Ya he has too many albums on the list but I generally don’t think he makes bad music by any means. This album is an exception to that though. It sounds like Costello doesn’t even care about making this music and is just going through the motions

I got the other Randy Newman album two days ago. It was a nice surprise and I enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to getting his other album. I just didn’t expect it would be this soon. This one is pretty good too, continuing his satirical songwriting with pretty catchy tunes. Fun stuff

Rated 10/10

Was debating between giving this a 4 or 5, mostly because I like their later albums more. But this is still deserving of a 5. It’s great and relistening to it reminded me of just how much Radiohead could actually rock

Randy Newman’s stuff is pretty fun if you can get on his level of humor. It’s a shame that he’s most famous now for his movie scores when his older stuff is so much better. Also this album apparently helped Brian Wilson get through depression so it’s worth a whole hell of a lot based on that alone

James Taylor can sing and he seems like a pretty decent guitar player, but these songs are just so inoffensive, bland, and forgettable. There are a couple tracks that are pretty bluesy and they’re actually really good. He’s definitely capable of way better

I’m disappointed with myself that I’ve never listened to this before. I love the Beatles and know their entire discography front to back. I’ve listened to plenty of their solo stuff (including Ringo’s stuff!). But somehow I just never got around to this one. But it’s fantastic! It’s already in contention to be my favorite solo Beatle effort

A-ha should’ve been much bigger than a one hit wonder. Though Take On Me is good enough that their place in history is already pretty well established
